We have listed the best pubs in and around Dawlish which are more than happy to accommodate your pooch.

The Marine Tavern

The Marine Tavern in Dawlish is located on the seafront and overlooks the Exeter-Plymouth railway line, which frequently sees steam-powered services go by.

Dogs are welcome in the bar at The Marine Tavern, but they must be well behaved, kept on a lead and off the furniture.

While your dog is resting after a walk around the town, you can enjoy one of the real ales, cider, wine or soft drinks on offer.

Food is also available at the pub, serving for lunch and evening meals, with seating in the bar area and the walled front garden.

If you are eating be sure your dog is well-behaved.

The Railway Inn

The Railway Inn is ideally located for people exploring the town centre, heading to the beach or arriving from the railway or bus station.

The Railway Inn was built in 1633, making it one of the oldest pubs in Dawlish and the atmosphere is quirky.

The pub is family-friendly and dog-friendly, and there are traditional pub games available if you are planning to stay awhile and relax.

The bar is stocked with a range of wine and beers, and excellent value food can be ordered if you are planning to dine out.

Swan Inn

A friendly locals pub, the Swan Inn is another one of Dawlish’s oldest, dating back to 1642 and situated in the older part of the seaside town.

There is a large patio and garden, perfect for sitting out in the summer months and dogs are welcome both outside and in if they are well-behaved.

The pub doesn’t serve food and has a regular real ale plus a few guest ales so that visitors can sample some locally brewed South West drinks.

Brunswick Arms

The Brunswick Arms is a traditional pub in Dawlish offering good food, beer and cheer!

You can enjoy the daily happy hour and have a go at pool, darts and on the skittle alley.

Pub grub favourites are on the menu, and there is always something good on the specials board.

For children, a separate menu is available, and the Sunday Roast has a choice of three or four meats, fresh vegetables, Yorkshire puddings and plenty of gravy!

Dogs are also welcome at the Brunswick Arms, and you can make the most of the beer garden on warmer days.

The Smugglers Inn

Visitors to Dawlish will find that The Smugglers Inn is a great place for a carvery, and the meat and veg are locally sourced.

The carvery is available every day and has become famous for its indulgent quality and flavour.

The Inn caters to many dietary requirements and is welcoming to families, couples, large parties and, of course, dogs!

In the bar, you will find there is something for everyone, from wine and champagne to a variety of real ales and premium lagers.

Soft drinks, teas and coffees are available too.

The pub is the place to stop off at after time on the beach, as it just 300 metres away.

The old pub, which dates to 1750, has several games to play for patrons, from pool to dominoes. If you want to add your own music to the atmosphere, there is a jukebox too.

Throughout the week there are several dining offers, where you can combine a pint with some good pub food such as steak or curry.

Their inexpensive but quality Sunday roast is a must-try too!
