Amazingly, this is the 20th consecutive Summer Jazz Weekend and again it is being hosted “Live at the Langstone” by Jeremy Huggett.
Jeremy presents the pick of the West Country Jazz scene for your entertainment over this value-packed weekend.
Jeremy’s early musical career saw him receive a number of awards – in 1989, he was nominated by musicians from the famous “Old Duke” in Bristol for a place at Johnny Dankworth’s Summer School (Wavendon).
In May 1992 he was invited to guest in concert at the Colston Hall in Bristol with the US 76th Army Band and in 1993 he won the award for Best Reed Player in the UK.
Since then, Jeremy’s gone from strength to strength, playing with famous names all over the country including Acker Bilk, Digby Fairweather, Cy Laurie, George Melly, Humphrey Lyttleton, Danny Moss, Pete Allen, Tommy Burton, Beryl Brydon, Enrico Tomasso, Jim Fryer, Roy Williams, and the list goes on.
A great opening band for our Summer 2022 Jazz Weekend featuring The Golden Eagle Jazz Band.
Led by Kevin Scott on banjo the band is inspired by the music of the revival playing New Orleans jazz the way it was meant to be played, that is, with a powerful and melodic front line and a hard-driving rhythm section.
This has helped the band secure bookings at many of the country’s leading jazz establishments and festivals as well as numerous private and corporate functions.
The Vintage Jazz Collective is led by Zoe Lambeth on Alto Sax, Clarinet & Vocals and comprises some of the South West’s top musicians.
Playing a selection of jazz from the 20s & 30s what better way is there to spend an afternoon than listening to great music!
Our Saturday night musical line-up will give you a complete Jazz & Blues Experience performing a wide range of Traditional Jazz, Swing, Blues & Jump Jive from the 30s & 40s including Louis
Armstrong, Fats Waller, Duke Ellington, Louis Prima, Fats Domino & W C Handy to name but a few.
Led by your host, Jez Huggett, on saxes & vocals the band comprises Gethin Liddington (trumpet), Kevin Grenfell (trombone & Vocals), Luke Adams (guitar & banjo), Simon Smith (bass) and Alex
Great for both listening and dancing the Jazz & Blues Experience are guaranteed to get our Dinner Dance off to a swing!
Maggie Reeday is one of the country’s finest singers with a natural ability to connect with her audiences and is a true Langstone favourite.
She’s sung on television & radio with some of the greatest international musicians and has regularly appeared at Ronnie Scott’s – one of the highlights of her career was singing at the London Palladium in front of the Queen Mother.
She’s also worked alongside household names such as Paul Daniels, Jim Davidson & Atomic Kitten amongst others.
Maggie’s style is unique – she not only portrays some of the great Jazz standards but her smoky voice lends itself beautifully to more soulful Latin and blues songs.
