Langstone Cliff Hotel: How To Reach Us

EV (ELECTRIC VEHICLE) CHARGING
In July 2022 the hotel installed two 7Kwh electric vehicle chargers.

The units are operated via the Charge Assist app which can be obtained  here or by scanning the QR code located on the notice beside each machine.

Once the Charge Assist App is installed, plug the car into the charger and scan the QR code with the app to commence charging.

The Charge Assist App will pre-authorise £20.00 on your card when it is first used, when the vehicle has completed charging any unused credit will be refunded immediately. If more than £20.00 is required then additional pre-authorisations will be made and any credit unused will be refunded on completion of charging.

How to Reach us by Road

 

Satellite Navigation – The Hotel Postcode is EX7 0NA. If using a satellite navigation system (Sat Nav) please ignore the instruction to turn into Week Lane (very narrow and uneven surface, impassable for large vehicles) and continue on to the next main road junction (300 metres, turn left just by the copse, signposted Dawlish Warren & Hotel)

 

 From Exeter and the North

  1. Leave the M5 at Junction 30
  2. Follow the signs for Dawlish (A379) 2nd Exit on the Sandygate Roundabout 
  3. Proceed along a short length of dual carriageway for approximately half a mile past the turning for the supermarket following the signs for Dawlish.
  4. Filter on to a second Dual Carriageway for approximately a quarter mile to Countess Wear roundabout. Take the 2nd exit signposted Dawlish (A379)
  5. Proceed along the road (over the swing bridge) for about 500 metres to Matford roundabout take the first exit signposted Dawlish (A379)
  6. Continue along the Exminster bypass approximately 2 miles (Sannerville Way) to the roundabout, take the second exit and proceed towards Kenton. Approximately 4 miles. 
  7. Continue through Kenton to the village of Starcross.
  8. Once through Starcross proceed along beside the railway to a sharp right hand bend with Cockwood harbour on your left as you turn out of the corner. 
  9. Take the road 20 metres beyond the bend adjacent to the harbour and proceed to Dawlish Warren past the Anchor Inn. 
  10. Continue approximately 1 mile to Dawlish Warren, proceed through the village past the turning to the Beach on the left. 
  11. Continue up the hill past the Mount Pleasant Inn on your left. The Hotel entrance is approximately 50 metres on the left look out for a large blue sign.

 

 From Plymouth and the West 

  1. From Plymouth take the A38 Expressway towards Exeter.
  2. At the top of Haldon Hill just past the Restaurant take the turning left signposted to Dunchideock and Exeter Racecourse. 
  3. Turn right at the junction and proceed under the A38 towards the A380. 
  4. Cross the mini roundabout and proceed for approximately half a mile to the junction with the A380. 
  5. Cross over the A380 and follow the road straight on past to the Café on your left. 
  6. At the end of the road bear left and follow the road down the hill being careful of oncoming traffic and tight bends for approximately 4 Miles. 
  7. At the T Junction with New Road, opposite the golf course, take a right turn and proceed to the main A379 at Cockwood Harbour. 
  8. At the Junction with the main A379 at Cockwood you will see a road almost opposite you running along the back of the Harbour. Take this road to Dawlish Warren. 
  9. Approximately 1 mile to Dawlish Warren proceed through the village past the turning to the Beach on the left. 
  10. Continue up the hill pass the Mount Pleasant Inn on your left. The Hotel entrance is approximately 50 metres on the left. Look out for a large blue sign
  • Parking – As of the 28th August 2020, in order to reserve our car park for our customers, our Car Park is being managed by Smart Parking.

All customers of the hotel, who book direct, (both resident and non-resident), are still able to park free of charge, but you are required to sign in at Reception with your car registration on arrival.

Please ensure that all vehicles in your party are registered, to avoid penalties.

Please note that all penalties come directly from Smart Parking, not the hotel, and if you receive a fine and wish to contest it, you will need to contact Smart Parking.

  • EV facilities
    We now (July 2022) have two EV Charging points at the hotel provided by ICS. The units are 7Kw each.

 

How to Reach us by Rail 

Book to Dawlish Train Station. The station is only two miles from the hotel, where there is a taxi rank, please contact us on 01626 868000 if you require assistance contacting a taxi.  

 

Dawlish Warren station is unmanned and is located around 400 metres from the Langstone Cliff Hotel. It is a short walk to the hotel. There are 2 platforms at Dawlish Warren station the Seaward side receives trains from London and the North, the inland platform receives trains from Plymouth and the South.

 

To get to the Langstone Cliff Hotel walk off the platform and proceed down the slope towards the road. From London and the north you will need to proceed under the rail bridge turning away from the sea.Please see the green lines on the map.

 Red Route

Just beyond the roundabout on Beach road is a junction, you may walk straight up the hill approximately 100 metres following the red track on the map, then past the Mount Pleasant Inn on the left. Proceed approximately 80 metres past the Mount Pleasant Inn the Hotel driveway is clearly marked on the Left.

 

Blue Route 

Alternatively once past the roundabout you may follow the public footpath on your left following the blue route on the map and walk approximately 60 metres up the gently sloping path, past St. Mary’s Church Hall. Proceed approximately another 80 metres with the public car park on your left turn the corner and the hotel entrance is marked on your right after about 20 metres.

 

The blue route is a little shorter and follows a much shallower slope but is a little more uneven than the red route, it is also unlit after dark. The red route is steeper, follows the main road and has street lighting.
