Hotel Entertainment: Meet Cosmo

Happy go lucky Cosmo doesn’t just entertain the children, he keeps the staff entertained with his dad jokes, too. Let’s get to know him a little better

What made you want to do the job you do? 

As a musician l backed several magicians. I was a drummer and noticed that magicians didn’t have much to carry whereas l had a drum kit that took a long time setting up. Plus they did  45 minute spots and l was doing all evening.

I began to study magic and had great help from magicians only to pleased to pass on advice.

How long have you been performing at Langstone Cliff Hotel?

I don’t have a definitive date for when l started performing. I remember meeting Geoff at another hotel and he asked if l would consider doing a show at Langstone. That would be over 25 years ago.

What is your favourite part of entertaining at Langstone Cliff Hotel? 

I enjoy  working at Langstone as there is an ambience about the place that has been made possible by the friendly staff over a long period of time. Guests appreciate this too and have always been receptive. Somehow the kids are well behaved and enthusiastic .

Can you describe your act for us

ln the late 2000’s a magic force emerged that was original, so zany, so fabulously different. Intelligent, some said, intellectual yet massively popular. Subtle yet simple. Dangerous but warm. Visual but still enormously literate. Big hearted, generous, archaic and funny, very, very funny.

Tell us something about yourself

Favourite food  – Italian. Favourite dish A Cappellacci del Nouvo Mondo.

Favourite wine  – Rioja. Muga El Anden de la Estacion Crianza. Vibrant and youthful.

Favourite cocktail  – Margarita with 100% agave.
