Paignton Zoo is a combined zoo and botanic garden which welcomes over half a million people every year. Home to roughly 2,000 animals and 1,600 different species of plant, a trip to Paignton is without doubt a unique experience.
If you’ve always had an interest in the beautiful creatures that fill our skies, how does admiring Birds of Prey up close and personal sound? Running until the 1st September this event is on most days throughout the week and will be held in the Zoo’s Animal Encounter Theatre. The show is bought to the Zoo by The Devon Bird of Prey Centre so you can afford to set your expectations high for this one with the talented Presenting Team well-practised in showing off the Birds’ intelligence. What’s more the show is free to attend for all guests – showings will be held at 1pm, 2pm and 3pm so you can choose a time window to suit you.
We’re all slowly becoming more and more aware of the vital role these little creatures play in our ecosystem and the importance of preserving and protecting the species. If you’re eager to find out more about active steps you can take to look after bees with plenty of other feel-good activities then Bee Week is only a booking away. The week will be on from the 9th-14th July and you can get stuck into activities like bee candle-wax rolling, making your own Bee Hotel for your garden plus face painting, crafts and more.
Go on an adventure around the Zoo to learn about and admire the fantastically diverse types of animals. Pick up a Super Top Trumps card on your arrival and compare your scores against the giant cards to see if you can trump them! With a trail sheet to help you out and lots of friendly animal faces to meet, it’s the perfect activity for your little ones to amuse themselves and there’s even a chance to submit your scores online to be entered into the monthly prize draw. For some light-hearted entertainment for young families, the Top Trumps Trail is perfect.
Take your Time
For fun-seekers there are free to attend events, talks and shows at the Zoo and for those who want to admire the beautiful wildlife on their clock, then they too can have it their way. There’s five food and drink destinations so when you need to re-fuel you won’t be stuck for choice. Let the kids get involved in one of the Zoo’s many activities whilst you relax and sip on a freshly-ground coffee in Baboon Rock.
