Massage
is an ancient art that has been practiced for thousands
of years and which has evolved from a combination of
eastern and western traditions. It is a series of systematic
and manual manipulation of the soft tissues of the body.
The hands are used to glide over the skin and apply pressure
to the underlying muscles in a series of movements that
involve variously stroking, rubbing, kneading and pressing.
This treatment may be carried out laying down on a couch
or seated in a chair using a choice of oils or cream.
REFLEXOLOGY
Reflexology
is thought to have originated 5000 years ago in Egyptian,
Chinese, and Indian traditions. It is a holistic therapy
aiming to facilitate better health and well-being by
treating the whole body and the whole person through
the feet, returning the body to a state of balance and
harmony by encouraging the mind and body to better health.
It is thought that when the reflexes of the feet are
stimulated, an involuntary response is effected in the
organs, glands and parts of the body connected by energy
pathways to the reflexes, this triggers a reaction in
the body to facilitate healing and balance. This treatment
is carried out on the feet using a choice of oils and
cream.
REIKI
This
is an ancient system of healing with its roots in Japan.
Reiki is a powerful and concentrated form of energy that
flows through the hands of a Reiki Practitioner, and
is a holistic therapy that works on both mind, body and
spirit by stimulating the body’s own natural healing
capacity. It is a way of channelling energy positively
in order to promote health and to help restore a sense
of physical and emotional balance. The treatment involves
the gentle placing of therapists hands on the client’s
whole body. The client may remain clothed during this
treatment. It is a treatment suitable for everyone, and
is particularly suitable for those who may not have any
form of physical therapy due to pain, serious illness,
or frailty.
Aromatherapy
This is an ancient system of healing in which aromatic
oils were used in massages and daily baths. Aromatherapy
is defined as the systematic use of essential oils in
holistic treatments to help improve physical and emotional
well-being. It aims to treat the whole person by taking
into account, not only their physical state but also
their emotions, which can have a profound effect on general
well-being. Aromatherapy oils are extracted from medicinal
plants by means of distillation, and each oil is thought
to contain the life-force, quality and personality of
the plant in concentrated form. Treatment involves the
choosing and blending of aromatherapy oils and massaging
them into the body via the skin.
