October 1st 1978 was a very important date in the world of British Jazz. It was the day Pete Allen also joined the ranks of Ball Barber and Bilk to lead a fully professional band that was capable of travel and play endless one night shows throughout the UK and abroad.
During these past thirty years fans have enjoyed Pete’s unique style performing an exciting musical sound featuring a line up that has always included talented and well respected musicians.
He has been described as ‘Britain’s Most exciting Jazz clarinetist and in 1992 he was awarded and made an Honorary Citizen of New Orleans for his services to music.
In between ‘live’ shows with his band he also found the time to present his own weekly one hour radio show ‘Jazz Sounds’ for BBC Radio broadcasting throughout the entire West Country including the Channel Islands for well over five years and he has released over 60 best selling jazz albums.
